International Friendship Day 2009

The project has 2 components, 1 of which is an interactive educational section and the other is a game show type Flash Game.

We finished this project about a month ago or so. Ken was both the creative and the art lead for this project. Sonia and Sze Thing were in charged of bulk of the graphics. There were tonnes of illustrations done for this project, from the designs of the 10 mascots, the landmarks and places of interest for the 10 countries to the game graphics; all were painstakingly done in vector format.

This website is created for all the primary, secondary schools and the junior colleges in Singapore. Many people have seen the site, and you can see it too at HERE.

I have not done illustrative graphics for a long time...

When I had to draw the 10 mascots and all the game graphics in old school Freehand pathing method, I regretted not learning how to use the warcom like the new age designers.

But the old school method has its merits. As u can see with the clean lines of the vector graphics, no unnecessary bulks and edges was eminent, everything is clean from point to point. A curve line would be a clean 2 point line work instead of multiple points using a warcom to draw.

Credits got to Sonia and Sze Thing for churning out the landmarks, buildings and monuments of various countries. That made my layout and screen design alot easier.

I enjoyed the designing process after a long hiatus, although it would have been much more enjoyable if my hands would be free of meetings, admin and what not.

Also credits to Thiam Hing, for the game programming side.

And thank you everyone for the great work done. And of course to Paul, who chipped in to help at the very last minute even though the project was not supposed to be on his plate of overwhelming work.
